Week's End

A new week has started. I have two cards that were made last week and not posted. My brother, Dale, had a birthday on the 7th. He is four years younger and lives in Tullahoma, Tennessee. This is the card that I mailed to him.

I had been working on several projects using my Cricut and the software -- My Craft Room. There are so many things that you can do with the software. I saw this card on Pinterest that I really liked. Here is a link to the card. Here is my card--

The original card was made using dies. With my Cricut, I connected the five 1-inch circles and cut them out using SU More Mustard card stock. I chose the letters and cut them out at 3/4-inch using a scrap piece of SU So Saffron card stock. Texture was added to the circles using a background stamp and clear embossing powder. The word "Birthday" was printed onto a piece of white card stock using a computer. I sponged that piece of paper with two distress inks -- Antique Linen and Tea Dye. For the card base I used a piece of SU Cajun Craze card stock. Using the Craft Room means that I can save my work and then go back and cut these pieces again when I want to make another card like this. Pretty cool!!!

The second card in this post was made with a hostess set from Stampin' Up called "Bloom With Hope". I love these flower images. This one was colored with copic markers and then cut out. I stamped the leaves onto the card stock and colored them. Then the flower was glued into place. I used the color spritzer tool and markers to add color to the white background. Love the effect that you get doing this.

 In this picture you can see a little of the sparkle that I added to the flower using my new "Wink of Stella" pen. I love this pen. It is the perfect to added just a touch of bling to any project.

Two July Brithdays

July 2 Stephen will be 15. 

This is a picture of his card. Sometimes I struggle to come up with an original design. This was one of those times. This card was CASE'd from a card that I found on Pinterest. I used one of my Cricut cartridges to cut the squares and an embossing folder for the background.

Maddie celebrates her 9th birthday on July 4. I got her card mailed today. She told us that she had recently gotten a bunny rabbit. I found this frame in my Cricut cartridge Elegant Edges. It turned out to be perfect. The flower stamp is from Stampin' Up's set, Serene Silhouettes. I colored it with markers and then did some sponging to soften the white card stock.

CAS278

I needed to make a birthday card for our granddaughter, Chloe this morning. It is hard to believe that she is going to be a teenager in just a few days. We will now have four teenager grandchildren plus a 9 year old. Today's CAS challenge was a color challenge and we were to use three of the colors from the following picture.

I started by cutting the happy birthday on black card stock with my Cricut. I used the cartridge "Beyond Birthdays". For the background I used white card stock and sponged on Pear Pizzazz, Bermuda Bay and Island Indigo. I sponged on some Bermuda Bay ink to create the clouds. For the balloons, I used a new stamp set from "Stamps of Life" called "Ballons2cut". This set has the framelits to go with the stamps. I used white twine to finish off the balloons.

Sweet 16

Sarah, my granddaughter, celebrated her 16th birthday May 18. We were not able to celebrate the day with her, but we did get to see her the week before. She has grown into a beautiful young lady.

CAS271 -- my Friend

Today's CAS challenge is to CASE a card from the very talented lady Angela Maine (Arizona Maine) at SCS. Her gallery has been an inspiration to me as I have looked at her cards. I have also enjoyed reading her blog "From The Tool Shed".

This is the card I chose to case.

Angela was following a color challenge and I was following her design. I have the Memory Box die "Elegant  Scrollwork" and just never seemed to have any ideas on how to use it. Angela's card  provided the inspiration that I needed. I used Stampin Up card stock in "Wisteria Wonder" to cut the die. The focal image was cut on my Cricut using black, white and Wisteria Wonder card stock. The sentiment is from the stamp set "Six-Sided Sampler" by Stampin UP. The large flower is from the set "Petite Petals" and punches were used to create the other flowers. I snipped off the end of each die that was under the focal image and created a little embellishment for the inside of my card.

CAS270--Stars, Stars, Stars

Today's Clean and Simple Challenge was to use stars. I don't have any stamps with stars. I don't have any dies that are stars. So I went to my Cricut and found these little banners with stars in the center. I cut them out at 1 1/2 inches, backed the banners with gold card stock, used the "Happy Birthday" embossing folder on white card stock, added some gray and white twine, and used a darker gray card stock for the card base. I will try this card again using brighter colors.

When I saw the sketch for today's challenge at SCS I knew the direction I wanted to go. I had been wanting to try a card using the Cricut cartridge "Elegant Edges" and this sketch seemed to say "Now is the time". I finally got to my craft room in the late afternoon. Now here is my card.

 

The white layers were cut at 1 3/4-inches, 3 1/4-inches and 4 3/4-inches. The Rose Red layers were cut using the same measurements with the shadow creative function key on. Next, I sprayed the white layers with a color wash that I had made using rubbing alcohol and my SU Rose Red reinker. The flower was made using SU Rose Red cardstock and a flower die from La La Land. Before shaping the flower, I sponged the edges/petals with SU white craft ink. Pearls placed in the center finished the flower.

I had to add this picture to my blog. Before Christmas I purchased an Amaryllis blub and put it in the garage. Around the first of the year I planted it in the material that was provided. This is what I was treated too today. It is beautiful and makes me feel happy.
