It's time I get the card that I made for this week's sketch challenge at SCS posted. After making a card for MOJO Monday, some of the leftover pieces of paper I used were left on my workspace overnight. When I got the sketch on Wednesday, it just seemed that those little pieces of paper were crying out to be used again. It was one of those times when everything seemed to just go together. For the card base I used SU Baja Breeze CS. The other papers were from DCWV's Linen Closet matstack. I really enjoyed working with this sketch. Hoping that each of you are having a good week.

What a cool design. For my card I used SU Baja Breeze for the card base. The designer paper was from DCWV's Linen Closet matstack. The sentiment was from SU's Well Scripted set. The flower stamp was a gift from a friend. It was purchased in Hawaii. I colored it with copic markers and cut it out. I used SU's bird punch for the leaves.

I began working on this card Monday morning. Several things needed attention during the day. We had friends for dinner. This morning (Tuesday) there were errands that needed doing. So, finally, I got my card finished this afternoon. I love these colors together.

I did not have the exact colors so I tried to come as close as possible.

It's Friday and I am just getting my card finished for Wednesday's sketch challenge at SCS. My goal is to do all the sketch challenges for this year. These challenges always encorage me to use things (images) that I have already finished. That was the case again this week. This image was made with one of the first stamps I purchased from Heartfelt Creations. I created several images, used one or two and put the others away for a later date. That was at least two years ago. So, this was the week to use one of those images.

When I made the image, I was trying out the technique called (I think) "out of the box". The white oval was cut around the hummingbird's wings.

Last night I had a class on "Bring a tool that you have but don't know how to use". I knew that someone was going to bring a brayer, so I did a little practing ahead of time. I knew about inking up an embossing folder before embossing your card stock. As I was practicing, I decided to run the inked brayer over a piece of card stock that was already embossed. That created a great effect. That is the way I created the third element on my card. I think this will be a technique that I will be using often.

I used colored pencils and gamsol to color the image, Spellbinder's Nestabilities to cut the ovals, SU Perfert Plum card stock for the base, SU designer paper and light colored card stock from my collection. The "Happy Birthday" was heat embossed with light purple embossing powder.

Meet Mr. Mouse

Meet my little mouse. My son, Daniel, gave it to me for Christmas when he was just a little guy. I gave him a home in an open cabinet in the dining room. Every time that Daniel would walk by, he had to tweak the tail. Well, it wasn’t too long before he had “tweaked” the tail right off. A mouse without a tail is funny looking. Dad was able to put the tail back on with epoxy glue, and it has stayed attached for over 30 years.

A couple of weeks ago, Mr. Mouse had another accident. Dad was walking by my work table and knocked off several things, as well as Mr. Mouse. This time he lost an ear. With some glue, his ear has been reattached. Again, Mr. Mouse is complete.

This is such a great sketch. My card quickly came together. The handmade DP had been in my scraps for quite some time. The minute I saw the sketch, I knew right away that I needed to find that little piece of paper. I have several friends at church who are struggling with cancer. This will be a perfect card to send to one of them. The panel was made using the SU set "Fabulous Florets". I got the idea from someone's card on Split Coast Stampers. I looked at the gallery this morning. There was no one card that jumped out at me. So, can I give credit to everyone who has posted a card to the "Fabulour Florets Gallery"? All the cards there are beautiful and they inspire me to want to create another card using that stamp set.

What a day! I have so many projects in the works today and here I sit at the computer. I downloaded the Cricut Craft Room software over the weekend. As I was playing with it earlier in the day, this sketch looked like it would be perfect to try with the program. It worked beautifully but the size of my images turned out to be bigger than I had planned. I will have to work at sizing the images better.

I look forward to Wednesdays and the sketch challenges at Split Coast Stampers Today was no exception. First thing I did the morning was get my computer on so I could see what the sketch was for today. I had some free time this morning so I was able to work on my card.

Today is Friday. I have finally gotten my card finished and am ready to post the results for this week's sketch challenge at SCS. It was not a hard sketch to follow but all the details just did not want to come together.

 

The designer paper is from a 6x6-inch pad that I got at Michael's by MME called "Breeze". I love using these papers. I used SU So Saffrom card stock for the base and a piece of gray card stock that I found in my paper stash for the accent layers. The "Happy Birthday" greeting is from Our Daily Bread Designs "Mini Tag's 3" set. The flower is from SU's "Kind and Caring Thoughts" set. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink. For the flower, I stamped off once to get a lighter colored image.

Valentines

Last week, I did a class on "Heat Embossing". I have a friend who had never done this technique, so it was a chance to share some of the things I have learned over the last few years. In preparing for the class, I learned a lot myself. I had materials for them to make a valentine card that required them to stamp and emboss three hearts. We had a great time together. I am sorry that I forgot to get pictures of their cards. I made two cards using the same layout which created two unique cards. We used white detail embossing powder on red card stock and then punched them out. The hearts were from two Stampin' Up sets--"Punched Potpourri" and "Filled with Love". We also used the heart punch from Stampin' Up. I love having several options that go with the same punch.
