Anniversary Card

Life is sometimes a little overwhelming. This is my first post in just over a month. I needed a short break. I think stress had created a block against creativity. I just needed to stop for a while and focus on something totally different. I did some quilting and tried to focus on some projects that needed to be done around the house.

I needed an anniversary card this afternoon. My sister-in-law took Don to his Rock Steady Boxing class so I had a chance to make the card before we left for the 50th wedding anniversary celebration.  I love the beauty of simplicity.

Inside Message

50 Years

2017 has had many 50 year anniversaries.

1. 50 years since I did my student teaching in home economics at a high school in Nashville, Tennessee.
2. 50 years since I graduated from Belmont University, also in Nashville.
3. 50 years since Don and I were married on June 10.
4. 50 years since we arrived on Bonaire (July 10) to begin our time of service with Trans World Radio as a couple. Don had already been serving with Trans World Radio for three years.

Many things have taken place in those following 50 years. I made a mini album for Don's anniversary card highlighting many events leading up to our marriage and the following years. I hope to share that mini album in another post very soon.

Today I would like to share the cards Don and I received from friends in one of my stamping groups. Each was so unique and beautiful. Pictures do not do them justice.

Happy Anniversary

This was the weekend for the "Mega Meet" in Novi, Michigan. I always look forward to going and seeing some of the new things on the market. I needed an anniversary card today so I decided to use the new Spellbinder Border dies that I purchased yesterday. This set is beautiful. You may see it often. I especially love the dainty scalloped border outlined with the dots. I used SU Pool Party card stock and ink. The stamps were from a set from "Stamps of Life" that I purchased at the show last year.

CAS328--Let The Sunshine In

Today's Clean and Simple challenge at SCS is all about the sunshine. We had rain in Michigan this weekend so it is nice to see the sun some today. I guess there is a chance of showers this afternoon as the sun heats things up.

Wednesday is our 48th wedding anniversary so I was thinking about a card for my husband. The thought "You are my sunshine" came to me after reading about the challenge. I have no stamp anything like that so I went to the computer, created my sentiment and printed it out on natural colored card stock. I meant to make a one layer card but the sentiment got printed on the paper in the wrong spot for that. I masked off the sentiment and sponged the sun's rays with SU So Saffron ink, then used a distress marker to create the lines that makes it look like there is an extra panel. Still have to work on the inside message.

I am also submitting this card to the Paper Players weekly challenge -- PP248. The challenge is to create a masculine card.

Using The Leftovers

On Monday, I made a card for two challenges. I cut the SU hexagon hive die twice--once out of Pistachio Pudding and then Lost Lagoon. I used the pieces I needed for my card but still had leftovers that I could not throw away. Since I needed an anniversary card for my son and daughter-in-law, I made a second card using those pieces and the same stamp set.  I was a couple of days late getting it in the mail. Hope they will forgive me.

 

 

CHF08 Challenge--Circles, Circles, Circles

We are ready for a new Cornish Heritage Farms Challenge. I am hostess for this challenge and I have chosen the theme -- Circles, Circles, Circles.

I used the digital stamp "Floral 11" , printed it out three times, colored each image with copic markers and used a 1 3/4 inch circle paper punch. Then I backed each circle with a black circle and a scalloped circle cut with spellbinders nestabilities.

On the white background I printed the "Happy Anniversary" image, embossed the background leaving a 1-inch strip at the bottom. I trimmed the background with a multi colored ribbon that I purchased at my local fabric store. The middle image has dimentionals behind it.

Working With A Digital Stamp

I want to show how I sometimes take a digital sentiment and create an image that fits the project that I am working on. I am using a digital image that is available from Cornish Heritage Farms.

 

No. 1-- Insert the desired image.
No. 2--The image was copied so I now have two images. The first one is cropped to only say "Happy". The second one is cropped to say "Anniversary".
No. 3--The two images are now arranged to achieve the desired look.

Pretty cool. Sometimes we do the same thing with rubber stamps by just inking up certain words before stamping.

Leap Day Post

I wanted to post a couple of cards today. The first is for the Sketch Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. These challenges always "challenge" me to think about what I am creating. This week's sketch was a fun one to work with.

The focal image is stamped from SU Watercolor Trio set and the greeting is from Spring Mix by Gina K Designs. The background was stamped with "Le London Script" from Stampabilities. The card base is Crumb Cake card stock with Soft Suede as the accent color. I also used Soft Suede ink. The focal image was cut with the petite oval Spellbinders nestabilities.

The second card was fun to do. I had never done a spotlight card before. The stamp is from Stamping Bella and is called Young Love by Mo Manning. When I saw the stamp, I knew it was one that I had to have. The spotlight was colored with prisma colored pencils and gamsol.
