He Is Risen

I spent the morning working on an Easter card for our stamp club's March meeting. I wanted a card that tells the true meaning of Easter. It is not about the Easter bunny, candy or eggs. It's about the fact that Jesus died, was buried and raised from the dead in order to provide my Salvation.

I began by cutting this Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps die out of black card stock. I have had the die for a couple of years and have never used it. It is time! To create the background, I began by sponging blue ink onto a piece of white card stock. Stamped the sun (from the SU stamp set "Kinda Eclectic") in SU Crushed Curry ink. Black card stock was used to create the mount. The sentiment was from a very old Cornish Heritage Farms set that I purchased before the company went out of business. I trimmed the focal piece, layered it with a piece of blue card stock and added it to a white card base. Simple. I wanted to add something else but stopped. Not sure what that something else should be.

CAS320 -- Stencil It

"Stencil It" is the theme for today's CAS challenge at SCS. A couple of weeks ago I prepared a class on "Stencils -- Ways To Use Them". I made several images and cards demonstrating the use of stencils. None of the cards have been posted so I am going to use two of them for this week's challenge.

This sunburst stencil is from Tim Holtz. I have used it several times and love it. For both of my cards, I was trying to create a early morning feel. I used SU so saffron and crushed curry inks on this sunburst but I can't remember to name of the blue I used. The stamp for the sentiment is one from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps set "Be Encouraged".

This was an Easter card I was working on. The stamps were from the old Cornish Heritage Farms company which went out of business several years ago. The company re-opened under new owners but I don't think they ever brought back this stamp set. The tomb stamp was a line image. Since I wanted a solid image, I colored the image in with the darkest gray Copic marker I have. You can still see a little of the stamp details but I thought it added interest to the image.

This last card was listed in the "Favorites of the Week" ending April 19 at SCS.

CAS279 -- Flight At Sunset

Today's challenge was "Sunsets". So many possibilities! I was gone all morning so I didn't get to work on my card until the afternoon. This is the card that I created for the challenge. I used just the top portion of the stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms called "Bird Watching". In my sponging I used several colors -- Stampin' Up Crushed Curry, More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Memento Bahama Blue and Paris Dusk. The colored card stock was purchased from my local scrapbook store.

CHF10--Use Twine on Your Project

Another two weeks has passed and it is time for another Cornish Heritages Farms challenge. This week Holly Brown is our hostess and she has asked us to "use twine on our project". So lets get started.

 

My card base is Soft Suede by SU. The next layer is Crumb Cake by SU which was stamped with the CHF brick wall backgrounder using Soft Suede ink. I then sponged a little Soft Suede ink on the edges to create a softer look. I used one of Spellbinders labels to create the focal image with stamps from CHF Time to Stamp. CHF09--Shaped Card

Time for another callenge at Cornish Heritage Farms. Kris Chirhart is hostess and she has challenged us to make a shaped card. I have only made one other round card so I decided to try that for my card. Very simply but fun. The digital image is from Cornish Heritages Farms. Love this little guy.

CHF08 Challenge--Circles, Circles, Circles

We are ready for a new Cornish Heritage Farms Challenge. I am hostess for this challenge and I have chosen the theme -- Circles, Circles, Circles.

I used the digital stamp "Floral 11" , printed it out three times, colored each image with copic markers and used a 1 3/4 inch circle paper punch. Then I backed each circle with a black circle and a scalloped circle cut with spellbinders nestabilities.

On the white background I printed the "Happy Anniversary" image, embossed the background leaving a 1-inch strip at the bottom. I trimmed the background with a multi colored ribbon that I purchased at my local fabric store. The middle image has dimentionals behind it.

CHF07 Challenge -- Animals

Cornish Heritage Farms challenge this week is to use an animal on your card. The challenge hostess is Barb Gmitro-Best. Go to the Cornish Heritage Farms Blog to get all the details.You could win a $10 gift certificate.

For my card, I chose the digital image of a wolf which you can find here. What a handsome fellow. I printed out a fairly good size image, cut it out with a Spellbinders Nestabilities and sponged around the edges before taking it out of the frame. For the background, I used a piece of gray cardstock and embossed it in a folder that I had inked with  Memento London Fog. That makes the embossing really pop. Both the image and background were matted with black cardstock and attached to a white card base. I used the computer to print the sentiment. Hope you can play along with today's challenge.

CHF Challenge--Black, White and Your Color Choice

Its time for another Cornish Heritage Farms blog challenge--CHF06. Today's challenge hostess is Michele L. Michele has challenged us to use three colors--black and white with a third color (your choice). I love using black and white with lots of different colors. So which one did I want to use? Well, my choice was red. I used a digital image from the Cornish Heritage Farms store called "3 Chirstmas Kittens". I printed it twice with one image flipped horizontally. I colored only the kittens Christmas hats with a red copic marker, added a red layer of card stock and then a black layer. The sentiment was made on the computer, cut out and layered on black card stock. What a fun challenge--

CHF Challenge 5

It’s time for another CHF challenge today. Our hostess this week is Anne Harmon and she has chosen  “summer” as our theme. Yes, this is a favorite time of year for me. I am not fond of the very hot weather, but there are so many things that I love about this time of year.  I love the flowers and working in my gardens. I decided to do a very clean and simple card and spotlight the basket of flowers from the digital stamp called “Garden Chair”. Today's Challenge--Create A Birthday Card

It’s time for a new challenge from Cornish Heritage Farms. The challenge this week is to create a birthday card and our hostess is Lisa Silver. I am always in the need of one more birthday card. For my card today I used the Cornish Heritage Farms birdhouse digital stamp and a greeting image. The image was colored with copic markers, matted on deep yellow card stock and then on Kraft Card stock. The card base is also the Kraft card stock. The designer paper is from Heidi Grace Designs and was sponged with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

CHF Challenge # 3--Pearls and Lace

It is time for the third Cornish Heritage Farms Challenge. The theme for this challenge is "Pearls and Lace" and our hostess is Cindy Haffner. Hope you will be able to play along. For all the details go to the Cornish Heritage Farms Blog.

Now I would like to share the cards I made for this challenge. My card uses the digital image from the Cornish Heritage Farms website called Lily Digital Stamp. It was printed, cut out using a Nestibilities Oval and sponged with Memento Black Ink before removing the image from the cutting die. I found the lace in my sewing cabinet, added some black ribbon over the top edge and finished it off the self-sticking pearls.

Of course, I had to make a second card using different colors. I recolored the image to match  the SU color Rose Red before printing it out. I then sponged SU Rose Red ink around the edges before removing it out of the die. The card stock (SU Rose Red) was dry embossed on about two-thirds of the front panel. Again I covered the top edge of the lace with ribbon and added self-sticking pearls. I hope you enjoy our third challenge.

First Cornish Heritage Farms Challenge

I love using this background stamp and the "Time To Stamp" set. And I love the color combination of yellow and brown. Working With A Digital Stamp

I want to show how I sometimes take a digital sentiment and create an image that fits the project that I am working on. I am using a digital image that is available from Cornish Heritage Farms.

 

No. 1-- Insert the desired image.
No. 2--The image was copied so I now have two images. The first one is cropped to only say "Happy". The second one is cropped to say "Anniversary".
No. 3--The two images are now arranged to achieve the desired look.

Pretty cool. Sometimes we do the same thing with rubber stamps by just inking up certain words before stamping.

Making A Brick Wall

Many have asked me about making the top for the brick wall on my card. There are several steps but it is very easy. I used a light gray card stock. I stamped the brick wall using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (my favorite).

I decided how big I wanted the brick wall and trimmed my paper to that size. I cut mine 2½ inches tall and 3¾ inches wide. I then sponged on some Memento London Fog ink to darken the brick a little.

Now for the top. Cut a stripe of the gary card stock 3/4 inch wide. Score down the length of card stock at 3/8 inch. I used my score buddy because it has the small increments. Fold in half with the ridge side on the outside.

Now you have to decide how much you want your top to hang over the edge of the brick. In my sample here I allowed for 1/8 inch on each side. Next you want to trim the ends. I used my quilting ruler to trim each end at a 45 degree angle. (You only trim half the width of the stripe.)

Now sponge on some black ink to create the illusion of a shadow—darker on the back edge and lighter towards the center of the strip. Now attach the top to the brick wall and finish your card.

Here are my cards that I would like to share with you. Both cards highlight the background stamp called "brick wall" and images from the stamp set called "Time to Stamp". The cat was cut on the Cricut, the flowers are a digital image from CHF, colored and cut out by hand, and the vase was made using an oval punch.

The flowers on the next card were made using a couple punches, sponging on a little color and shaping with a stylus. I have loved using these stamps. They are so versatile.

       
This picture shows how the background paper was made. On the left you see the stamp. On the right you see the original paper and on top you see the finished result. I love the finished paper and it's so easy.

Cornish Heritage Farms Sneak Peek--Day 4

Day 4 is here. Hope you have been enjoying seeing all the beautiful cards. Here is my card for today. Very simple and very much like Sunday's card. I used the "large dots" background stamp--this time in the color "perfect plum". I used a large dots embossing folder and a beautiful digital floral stamp that is currently available from Cornish Heritage Farms.

I have a second card today. This card follows a sketch challenge from Split Coast Stampers (SC379) a couple of weeks ago. I loved using the sketch then, and when I was designing this card everything just fell into place for the sketch. I did move things around a little bit. Hope that still counts.

I used the lighthouse image on a previous card but could not resist using it again. Here I colored the image using copic markers. I did some masking in order to sponge on the background colors. Notice the "brick panel". That is a preview of another "backgrounder" called "brick wall". I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the brick on the gold colored card stock and then sponged on some distress ink to give it more color. It reminders me of what the walls of the lighthouse might look like close-up.

Welcome to Day 2 for the new rubber stamps that will go on sale at Cornish Heritage Farms on Thursday, April 19, at 10 o'clock p.m. EDT. This is an exciting week for all the members of the new CHF Design Team. Here is my card for today. Love using this "Large Dots" background stamp. The focal image is from the set that is being released called "Time to Stamp". The note on the heart reads "to love with all your heart" which is also from the stamp set.

Let Your Light Shine

This lighthouse is from Cornish Heritage Farms digital collection. One of the neat things about using a digital stamp is that you can make it any size you would like. The sentiment is also a digital image from CHF. I did some copying and cropping to get the finished alignment.
