November Is Here

It seems that October was lost for me. After having surgery for a basal cell skin cancer on my nose on August 15 and again on September 11, my creativity left me. For a month I could not wear my glasses which I found very frustrating. I will probably have at least one more surgery to complete the reconstruction on the side of my nose. My next Dr's appointment is November 30.

This morning, I needed a get well card for a friend at church. Here is the card I created and then I saw the challenge at Joan's Garden. I would like to share my card with you. The snowman is a stamp I got a few years ago and always have fun using it when I get it out. The background was created using the SU set--Lovely As A Tree.

I Love A Challenge

A friend of mine gave me these flourishes that she had cut using her Circut and asked if I could think of ways to use them on a card. That set my mind thinking. What could I do with them?

After looking around and then through my scrap box, I started getting some ideas. After I got one card made, ideas kept popping into my head. The bird was on my work space just waiting to be used. Since I needed some thank you cards, that is what this one turned out to be.

 

Next I found this background that I had made when I was trying out the new background stamp I had gotten from JustRite Stamps. Looked in my flower jar and there were the flowers. Perfect! Now I have two cards.

 

 

 In August, I attended the Heirloom Rubber Stamp Show in Novi, Michigan. I was able to get some new background stamps from Impression Obsession. So I had to try some of them out. Grabbed a piece of card stock and tried out the flourish stamp using Memento Ink's Grape Jelly. Then laid it aside. When I came across this background, I knew that I had to use it--went perfect with the smaller flourish. Found the embossed piece of card stock near my paper cutter--leftover from another project. Now I had my third card.

WOW--three cards and all so different.

SC404

Seems like I have been working on this card all day. Every time I would start, I would get called away. But I finally finished. It uses the same paper that I used last week. The scraps were still on my work space so I decided to use them instead of just putting them away.

The stamped image was created using stamps from "Stamps by Judith". So much fun to work with. The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Designs Mini Tag Set 3. These mini tag sets are awesome. Use them all the time.

CHF10--Use Twine on Your Project

Another two weeks has passed and it is time for another Cornish Heritages Farms challenge. This week Holly Brown is our hostess and she has asked us to "use twine on our project". So lets get started.

 

My card base is Soft Suede by SU. The next layer is Crumb Cake by SU which was stamped with the CHF brick wall backgrounder using Soft Suede ink. I then sponged a little Soft Suede ink on the edges to create a softer look. I used one of Spellbinders labels to create the focal image with stamps from CHF Time to Stamp. Finally got my card ready to post for the sketch challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. I guess that I don't work as fast as others do. I loved working with this sketch. May try using it again. I am also trying to use more designer paper. These papers by Cosmo Cricket were from a new pad that I got from a local scrapbooking store. Then I found a pink paper (in my collection) that went with the prints perfectly. Love it when that happens.

CHF09--Shaped Card

Time for another callenge at Cornish Heritage Farms. Kris Chirhart is hostess and she has challenged us to make a shaped card. I have only made one other round card so I decided to try that for my card. Very simply but fun. The digital image is from Cornish Heritages Farms. Love this little guy.

Here is my card for this weeks sketch challenge at SCS. It is very simple but I enjoyed working with this sketch. The stamp was from the dollar bin at Michael's.

SC400 At SCS

Here is my card that I made for SC400 at Splitcoast Stampers this week. I chose to make a card using SC321. This is a sketch that I have enjoyed using numerous times since the original challenge. I used SU Perfect Plum card stock and ink along with the stamp sets "Fabulous Florets" and "Happiest Birthday Wishes".

 

CHF08 Challenge--Circles, Circles, Circles

We are ready for a new Cornish Heritage Farms Challenge. I am hostess for this challenge and I have chosen the theme -- Circles, Circles, Circles.

I used the digital stamp "Floral 11" , printed it out three times, colored each image with copic markers and used a 1 3/4 inch circle paper punch. Then I backed each circle with a black circle and a scalloped circle cut with spellbinders nestabilities.

On the white background I printed the "Happy Anniversary" image, embossed the background leaving a 1-inch strip at the bottom. I trimmed the background with a multi colored ribbon that I purchased at my local fabric store. The middle image has dimentionals behind it.

CHF07 Challenge -- Animals

For my card, I chose the digital image of a wolf which you can find here. What a handsome fellow. I printed out a fairly good size image, cut it out with a Spellbinders Nestabilities and sponged around the edges before taking it out of the frame. For the background, I used a piece of gray cardstock and embossed it in a folder that I had inked with  Memento London Fog. That makes the embossing really pop. Both the image and background were matted with black cardstock and attached to a white card base. I used the computer to print the sentiment. Hope you can play along with today's challenge.
