Saying Thank You

Last weekend, some of my friends make it possible for me to go to the Great Lakes Scrapbooking Mega Meet held in Novi, MI each year. They arranged for Don's sister to spend the day with him so that I could go. It is always so much fun to see and experience the new things that are on the market.

This was my "thank you" card that I made for my sister-in-law who spent the day with Don. The  two of them had a good time together. It is very similar to the card that I made for my last card class. I sponged a very light oval onto the white card stock (using Primrose Petal ink) which I used as a guide for doing my stamping. I used peg stamps from Rubber Stamp Tapestry.

Cards From The April 27 Class

April 27 was the last card class for me. After more than two years I have had to make a very difficult decision. It is hard to explain but as Don's Parkinson's Disease progresses, I need to eliminate stress. Several of the ladies had asked about using peg stamps. I have several sets from Rubber Stamp Tapestry and a number of the stick stamps from Stamps By Judith. It had been a long time since I had these stamps out. It was fun having all these stamps out.

The last card was a very simple, elegant sympathy card. I find that these cards are hard to make but it seems like I am needing more and more. The lilies are from the "Loving Memories" set from Our Daily Bread Designs stamped in Smoky Slate ink from Stampin' Up.

CAS313 -- The Trees Are Blooming

When I thought about the theme for today's CAS challenge "Think Spring", my first thoughts were about crocuses, tulips, daffodils, etc. When I finally got to working on my card, my mind went in a totally different direction. I love the time of year when the trees start to bud and bloom -- crab apples, dogwoods, red buds, fruit trees and lilacs. Here is my finished card. I used stamps from Rubber Tapestry Stamps, Stamps by Judith, and Stamps for Life to create my own tree that is just beginning to bloom.

Time for Tea

I made a card using a stamp set that I have had for some time and never used from Rubber Stamp Tapestry. I read someone's blog post that said they never put away a new stamp set until they had used every stamp in the set. Wish I could say that. I CASED the picture on the stamp set box. I wasn't sure how to go about using the stamp set. It was fun and I want to try another design soon.

I used SU Elegant Eggplant CS for the card base. The teapots and cups are stamped using SU Elegant Eggplant ink. I still have to put a sentiment on the card. I will wait until I am ready to use the card.

The Sun is Shining

The sun is shining and the temperature is above freezing. It seems that the long, cold winter is loosing its hold and spring will soon be here. I got to my computer this morning, anxious to see what today's CAS challenge was going to be. I looked at the inspirational picture; I was not sure just what it was all about. I read it again and looked at the picture again. What did I see? First, I saw the tiny, little flowers and the pretty pastel colors. Both are things I love to use in making my cards. Then I got the e-mail regarding the weekly Mojo challenge. Ideas began to flow and the idea of making one card fit both challenges began to come to mind. This is my card.

I used the stamp set "Cherry Blossoms" from Rubber Stamp Tapestery. The inks I chose were: Memento Toffee Crunch, SU Soft Suede, Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride and, finally, Raspberry Ripple. I used a circle mask made with a Spellbinder's die to stamp the focal image. I used that same die and the next larger one to create the frame using Soft Suede card stock. My card base is the Soft Suede cardstock. To create the border for the main image, I used the SU dotted scallop ribbon border punch (a long name for such a small punched border). The sentiment, from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Faith set, was stamped in Soft Suede ink.

Never Be Afraid -- CAS260

I thought about today’s CAS challenge most of the day. The technique challenge was to create a border using at least two or more images and/or sentiment stamps. This is my card that I came up with. I found this a very interesting challenge.

I drew the lines free hand. For the leaves I used a stamp from Rubber Stamp Tapestry and SU Old Olive ink. The small flowers were also a stamp from Rubber Stamp Tapestry stamped in SU Summer Starfruit. The larger flower and the dots were peg stamps from Stamps by Judith. For the flower I used SU Calypso Coral, and the dots were stamped in SU Pool Party. The verse was an Our Daily Bread Designs stamp from the set – As You Graduate.

I used the same border on the inside of the card. I am going to have to try this again.

 

 

 

Sketch Challenge Wednesday

I always look forward to getting the new sketch challenge each week at Splitcoast Stampers. They make me "think". It is so easy for me to just do the same thing over and over. I enjoy the challenge of trying something new. Here is my card. I went to my paper scrap pile and found all the pieces The black doily was lying on my workspace for weeks. The lavender card stock matched the flowers that I stamped for the focal image. The white strips were from previous projects.

A New Week

A new week has begun and I am hoping to get lots done. One of my cousins in Tennessee has a birthday this week. This is the card that I will be sending to her. It is made with the Rubber Stamp Tapestry set--Carolina Dreamin'. I love working with these small peg stamps.

It has been a long time since I posted any new cards. So much has happened and changed in my life during the past few months. I hope to try many new techniques this year.  In August of 2011, a friend introduced me to a stamp company called "Rubber Stamp Tapestry". Over the past few weeks I have been able to play with the stamps. Here is two cards I made in December 2011 using my new stamps.
