Create, Challenge and Encourage

Create, Challenge and Encourage -- This is the name I gave to our stamp club which meets once a month at my house. Our program topic for January, 2015, was "kissing and thumping". I had watched many videos and read instructions on how to do both techniques. I had never spent much time practicing either one. In preparation, I spent several hours working on both techniques. What fun! I created samples of both then I made a couple of cards using what I had learned.

Kissing Technique
Here is a link to a great video on the "Kissing Technique".  The leaves and tall flower are from the Stampin' Up set called "Summer Silhouettes". The pansy flower is from the set called "Morning Meadow". I used SU soft sky for the first ink and lost lagoon for the second. I will add a sentiment later when I need to use the card.

Special note: This card was chosen as a CAS FAVORITE at Splitcoast Stampers January 25, 2015.

Thumping Technique

This is not a real strong sample of "thumping", but I loved the way the image turned out. The tree is from the Stampin' Up set called "Lovely As A Tree". I used SU markers in crushed curry and close to cocoa to ink the stamp. I added additional color with the tangerine tango marker using the thumping technique. Next I added more color with a finger sponge and Memento Tangelo ink around the edges. I colored the trunk and ground with colored pencils. Finally, after cutting and embossing the image with Spellbinder dies, I sponged on just a little bit of Memento Sky Blue ink before removing die. The card base is a piece of Close to Cocoa card stock and the remaining papers were found in my scrap box. Here is a link to the "Thumping Technique".

  2. I've never heard of either one. Very cool! I can't wait to try it. With Judie and mom, of course.
