SC525 -- Pretty Paper

This is today's sketch --

I went to my scrap box that holds my designer paper. I found a small strip from a card I made last spring. Then I found a piece of white card stock that had already been embossed. After playing around with the pieces, this is the card I made. I used a white card base. The embossed piece is layered with a sheet of ColorMates card stock called "deep glorious green". Love that name. I trimmed the printed piece that I was going to use for the band; got it to narrow; decided then to layer it with the pink and finally the dark glorious green. I decided not to add a sentiment right now. I think I like it without one, but time will tell.

Paper Players Challenge # 229

I decided to make a card using the Paper Players sketch challenge. Love the simplicity of this sketch
.

I used a piece of Designer Series Paper that I used a couple of weeks ago for a SCS sketch challenge.
The card base was SU Rose Red and SU Island Indigo was my accent color. The "hello" is a die cut that was inked with VersaMark and clear embossed three times. Doing that makes the color seem darker. A stamp from the SU set "Stipple Stencils" was used with Old Olive ink, and the flower, punched in Rose Red, was glued in place using a rhinestone for the center.

CAS309 -- Snowmen!

There is a big snow storm heading to the northeastern section of the States tonight and tomorrow. We missed out on the snow here in lower Michigan. I expect there will be lots of kids out making their own snowmen during the next few days.

This is my card for today's challenge. I pulled out a stamp that I have had for several years. I  think I cut my circle a little bit too large but decided to use it anyway. I love the color red with black and white. The little guy's scarf was colored with copic markers.

Create, Challenge and Encourage

Create, Challenge and Encourage -- This is the name I gave to our stamp club which meets once a month at my house. Our program topic for January, 2015, was "kissing and thumping". I had watched many videos and read instructions on how to do both techniques. I had never spent much time practicing either one. In preparation, I spent several hours working on both techniques. What fun! I created samples of both then I made a couple of cards using what I had learned.

Kissing Technique
Here is a link to a great video on the "Kissing Technique".  The leaves and tall flower are from the Stampin' Up set called "Summer Silhouettes". The pansy flower is from the set called "Morning Meadow". I used SU soft sky for the first ink and lost lagoon for the second. I will add a sentiment later when I need to use the card.

Special note: This card was chosen as a CAS FAVORITE at Splitcoast Stampers January 25, 2015.

Thumping Technique

This is not a real strong sample of "thumping", but I loved the way the image turned out. The tree is from the Stampin' Up set called "Lovely As A Tree". I used SU markers in crushed curry and close to cocoa to ink the stamp. I added additional color with the tangerine tango marker using the thumping technique. Next I added more color with a finger sponge and Memento Tangelo ink around the edges. I colored the trunk and ground with colored pencils. Finally, after cutting and embossing the image with Spellbinder dies, I sponged on just a little bit of Memento Sky Blue ink before removing die. The card base is a piece of Close to Cocoa card stock and the remaining papers were found in my scrap box. Here is a link to the "Thumping Technique".

SC524 -- Great Friend

This is my card for today's sketch challenge.

This card was pretty simple. I used SU Crisp Cantaloupe card stock, Sweet Sorbert DSP (retired) and black for the accent color. The sentiment is from a new Sale-A-Bration set I received yesterday called "Simply Wonderful". I think I am really going to like the set.

This card was also posted to Paper Players Challenge #228.

CAS308--My New Year's Challenge

The CAS challenge today is to make a card illustrating your New Year's Resolution.  I want to change the word "resolution" to "challenge". My New Year's Challenge is to create a scrapbook that contains scripture verses, songs, poems, etc. that the Lord used to speak to my heart. My challenge is also to read through the New Testament this year. I am praying that the Lord will show me many new things as I work on my challenges.

This is my card for today's CAS challenge. When I saw this verse, I knew that I needed to write it down so that I could look at it during the year. I created the image on the computer and cut it out. It was there waiting to be used this morning.

These are the first pages to my scrapbook. I am using a 6x6-inch format so the pages are easy to put together.

The following two pages have verses from Matthew 6. These verses spoke to my heart and I knew right away what I wanted to try to do

SC523 -- Garden Collage Birthday

Here is today's sketch at SCS --

This is the paper that I chose to work with. I took one sheet from a 6x6-inch pad of paper and chose my card stock to coordinate -- Island Indigo for the base with Close to Cocoa and Pistachio Pudding card stock as accents.

This is the end result. I flipped the sketch because the design in the paper seemed to show up better. My focal stamp is from the SU set "Garden Collage" and the sentiment is from SU's "Bloom with Hope" set.

CAS307 -- Just Words

Today's  challenge was to "use just words". My "Happy Birthday" comes from a retired Stampin' UP set called "A Greeting For All Reasons". It is a great set that I go to often.

I made this card for a friend who lost her mother last week. I used Spellbinder dies and a stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs.

SC522 -- Birthday Flowers

Today's sketch was fun to work on. I started out by wanting to use SU Midnight Muse card stock as my accent color. Things developed from there. The only stamp that I used was the "Happy Birthday" from SU's "Bloom With Hope" set.

More Thank You Cards

Still trying to finish up my thank you cards. I completed one this morning for the Clean and Simple challenge at SCS. The challenge was to use just one color with white -- use a monochromatic color  theme. I used my new Sizzix and Spellbinder dies and a Stampin' Up embossing folder.

We were at the cottage of some of our friends on New Year's Day. There was a spot of water on the lake that was not frozen. The ice around that spot was covered up with geese; right in the middle was a swan. The geese would sit on the ice, go for a swim, then climb back on the ice. That scene was the inspiration for my card. I used stamps from four different sets -- SU Work of Art, Wetlands, Sassy Salutations and the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamp set Peaceful Swans.

This card was a CASE of a card that I had seen on Pinterest and wanted to make. You can see the original card HERE. I used SU Pool Party ink instead of green and mine is a thank you card instead of a birthday card. The tree is from Stampin' Up's set Lovely As A Tree. I also used stamps from the Stampin' Up set A Greeting For All Reasons and Work of Art.
