This is Maddie--my youngest granddaughter

Maddie's birthday is July 4. I was planning on doing a birthday card in red, white and blue. I thought that would be cool since her birthday was on the 4th. Well, it is amazing how fast things can change. For her purse she chose an animal print. (Not at all what I would have chosen for her.) I think she had fun helping me make her purse. She ran the sewing machine while I guided the fabric under the needle.

There was enough fabric left over to make a placemat for her also. Now for the card. I saw the Stampin' Up set called "Zoo Review". I thought that these stamps would be perfect. BUT--I did not have the stamp set. I called a friend. She had the set and was willing to let me borrow it. The set was perfect for what I needed!

Meet My Granddaughter--Chloe

June 13, Grandpa and I went to Hebron Kentucky to stay with our grandkids for the weekend. I  talked with the girls and together we decided that I would take my sewing machine and we would make purses together. Chloe was so excited. She looked through the material that I had taken with me and decided that she wanted to use the fabric with the frogs. After doing some practice sewing and getting used to the sewing machine, she made a pillow case and then we started on the purse.

June 25 was Chloe's 12th birthday. I made her a placemat using a coordinating fabric to what she had made her purse out of. Here is a picture of her placemat and birthday card. So much fun!

SC435 and SC436

There were two sketch challenges that I did not get posted back in May.

I clear embossed the card stock base on this card. I love how well the design of the background stamp shows up.

Traveling

It has been almost two months since my last post. Time has a way of slipping by so quickly. My husband and I went to Tullahoma, Tennessee -- first for my 50 year high school class reunion on May 24 and 25. I had a great time getting reacquainted with many of my classmates and friends. Then on May 26, we headed for the Smoky Mountains with my brother and sister-in-law. On Monday, we continued our travels to Asheville, North Carolina where we visited the Biltmore Estate. What a grand place!!! Thursday we headed back to Tullahoma and had a cousin's reunion on June 1. Tuesday, June 4 we began our journey to Chicago for our grandson's 8th grade graduation on June 6. We spent a few days at home (in Jackson, Michigan) before heading to Hebron, Kentucky on June 13 to stay with our grandkids there while their dad and stepmom when to California for Janet's daughter's college graduation. Then it was back home on June 18.

SC434

I have found myself needing several sympathy cards this past week. I used today's sketch challenge to make a card this evening. I used SU Not Quite Navy card stock for the base and designer paper from My Mind's Eye "Lost and Found3" 6x6 pad. I used a stamp from SU Asian Artistry set for my focal image. I should use this set more often; I really like it.

CAS218 and SC433

We were traveling last Wednesday so I have not been in my craft room for several days. My card today is a combination of two challenges. Sketch challenge 433 and today's CAS challenge 218 which was "Inspired by a Quote". The quote given was
“May every sunrise hold more promise, and every sunset hold more peace.”

SC432--Mr. Bluebird

This morning as I was preparing breakfast, I noticed that there were two bluebirds going in and out of one of the bird houses in the back yard. "I remembered this image I had done several months ago." When I checked my computer and looked at the sketch challenge for today, "I remembered this image I had done several months ago". This card is the result of my “remembering”. We are being blessed with sunshine this morning.

The bluebird is a Northwood's Rubber Stamp colored with Prism colored pencils and Gamsol. I used SU Bashful Blue card stock accented with black card stock.

Here is my card for today's CAS challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. I used  a double sided paper that I have had on my shelf for several years.

SC431

Today’s sketch challenge is a really cool design. I was so excited to get started this morning when I saw the sketch.  Here is my card, but I am not sure that I like it. I think I need something different for the focal image.
I wanted to create a background using two of my large Impression Obsession  stamps. I used the strip across the middle to try to add some color. So many of my cards are monochromatic in color.
My card base is SU Island Indigo card stock. Then I stamped  Coredinations Robin card stock with Memento's Teal Zeal ink. Love this color of ink! For the focal image I used the SU stamp set “Fresh Vintage” stamped with the Memento's Teal Zeal on white card stock.

Mojo Monday 287

Finally! My card is finished. I tried to use some of the new paper I got last month and this is what I came up with. Love the colors.

This is what I used for my card:
Card base--SU Pool Party card stock
Two pieces of paper from SU Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper
Accent color-- Indigo Island card stock
Stamp set--Vintage Labels stamped with SU Rich Razzleberry ink
