Sewing and Quilting Projects

March 2, 2018
I didn't realize that I it has been so long since I added anything to this page. I have posted other sewing projects on my blog which you can find under the label "Sewing and Quilting Projects".
This is a picture of my Easter wall hanging. I am calling this project "Surrounded By His Love".

The following three pictures are pictures of my Christmas projects. This Christmas wall hanging came down today. Now I just need to change out the table runner and topper.

In the last few weeks I have been enjoying some sewing time. The projects have been simple which is what I like best. First was the project of making a quilt for Sarah's high school graduation.

Then I did purses for Chloe and Maddie, my other two granddaughters' birthdays.

And for the 4th of July, I made two table runners out of bits and pieces from fabric in my collection.

What a wonderful day. The sun was shining, the temperature was in the 50's and I was able to spend time with a special friend while making new friends.

Last week as I was wondering around Pinterest, I came across a picture of a quilt that I fell in love with. It was done in only two fabrics. As I took a closer look, I began to realize that it was a version of "Jacob's Ladder". There were only two blocks--one was a 4-patch and the other was a half square triangle. The design was created by the placement of the pieces and by the color. I found some fabric and set about to try the pattern. I ended up making a piece about 28 inches square. I am hoping to make it into a wall hanging but it could also be used as a table topper. Some day I would like to make a larger quilt using this pattern.

I have been taking some time to do some sewing/quilting. One of the things I enjoy making is placemats for my table. I love bright, colorful mats that help protect the table as well as creating a "happy, fun" table setting. Our table is a 36" round oak table with two 12" leaves. I have never liked trying to use rectangle placemats on a round table so I designed my own pattern. With one leaf added, the table top measures 36" x 48". So a rectangle placemat works perfectly on each side. These are the pictures of the three sets I have made so far.

On this page I hope to share projects that I have made.

I have been enjoying some time with my sewing machine and some fabric. Table runners for Christmas have been my focus.

  1. Love your projects. Am planning to try and make a few of them myself. I really like the rectangle table Mat. Can you please share the sewing directions including the backing and hemming directions? Thank you looking forward to more of your projects.
